  • Spain’s Navantia to bid for Indian Navy’s landing platform docks contract Spain’s state-owned defence giant Navantia plans to bid for an Indian Navy contract to build four amphibious transport vessels, adding to its other bid to develop six submarines–which it has termed “India‘s largest defence acquisition project.”

    The company will bid for the four-landing platform dock (LPD) amphibious vessels along with Larsen and Toubro, said José Porto, managing director of Navantia India, as part of its efforts to strengthen its presence in the Indian defence market.

  • Ex-Hero Future Energies Senior Executive Sajay K.V. To Lead Company Towards 5 GW Target Spanish solar energy projects developer and operator Solarpack has announced the appointment of a new India Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Sajay K.V. will be on board the company from January 2, 2024.

    This move shows the seriousness with which Solarpack is exploring India where it has been operating since 2015. Currently, it operates 8 solar power plants in the country and plans to expand its capacity in this market to exceed 5 GW. It plans to focus on multi-technology renewable energy projects incorporating solar, wind and storage technologies

  • Nexdigm -Taxability on benefits and persiquisites – impact on food processing sector Section 28 (iv) of the income-tax act, 1961 (the Act) was introduced in the Finance Act, 1964 to tax the value of any benefit or perquisite, whether convertible into money or not, arising from the business or exercise of the profession by the assessee. However, even after five decades, there was no mechanism available to tax administrators to track whether such benefits and perquisites were offered to tax by the recipients. In many cases, the tax administrators claim that such benefits or perquisites are not offered to tax.
  • Abertis- Clutch of funds in race for NIIF’s $1.2 billion roads portfolio Global infrastructure majors signing the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) include Spanish company Abertis, French road developer VINCI Highways, PE fund KKR and two Canadian funds – CDPQ, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB). A road operator from South Korea is also interested and signed the NDA but its name could not be independently ascertained yet.
  • Bird Group played a significant role in the G20 Summit Bird Group is proud to have served esteemed world leaders on their arrival in New Delhi for the G20 Summit 2023. These included the heads of states of United Kingdom, United States of America, Indonesia, UAE, Nigeria, Italy, Netherlands, China, Germany, Argentina and Australia amongst others.

    • Screening: ISCC shared invite for LALIGA screening of ELCLÁSICO – FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid on 28th October’ 2023.
    • Webinar:  ISCC, on behalf of CDTI, shared a webinar titled “Spain & India: Innovation-driven R&D Cooperation Opportunities.” In collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Technology Development Board (TDB), the webinar aimed to offer comprehensive details about the recently launched 10th joint call. The joint initiative encourages the co-funding of Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&i) projects led by companies spanning diverse sectors and subjects. 6th November’ 2023.
    • Event: The Indo Spanish Chamber of Commerce (ISCC) was invited to commemorate the visit of the President of the Spain-India Council Foundation, Mr. Juan Ignacio Entrecanales, during his visit to India for the III Spain India Forum celebration on 22nd November’ 2023.
    • Cocktail & Dinner: ISCC hosted a Cocktail and Dinner event in Mumbai on the occasion of Spanish rotary presidency of EU along second semester of 2023, in which introduced formally FEBI (Federation of European Business in India) to the EU business community in Mumbai, and had a panel discussion with all EU national bilateral chambers of commerce in India on 29th November’ 2023.
    • Event: ISCC extended an invite with members to event organized by Turespaña and LALIGA in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes on the occasion of launch of LALIGA welcome kit on 30th November 2023.
    • Cocktail & Dinner: ISCC hosted a Cocktail and Dinner event in Bangalore on 7th December´2023. The event was organized to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Spanish Constitution. ISCC had the pleasure of hosting business speeches from Bangalore based Spanish and Indian companies, being Honorary Consul of Spain in Bangalore its guest of honour.
    • Event: ISCC, on behalf of Resbird, extended an invitation for the prestigious ‘Giving Wings to Dreams Awards 2023,’ honoring Indian women in aviation. The ceremony featured the esteemed presence of General (Dr.) V.K. Singh (Retd.), Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Road Transport on 9th December’ 2023.

 

    • Cocktail & Lunch:  ISCC hosted a Christmas lunch celebration in Delhi on 15th December’ 2023.
    • Event:  ISCC extended an invitation on behalf of Grace International for a “Meet, Greet & Have a Good Time” Christmas dinner for Bengaluru members in Bangaluru on 22nd December’ 2023.  
    • Event: ISCC was honored to be invited by the  Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in New Delhi for the SPAIN-INDIA ROUND TABLE. This session focused on the ‘Future of manufacturing in India’ and explored opportunities for the Indo-Spanish economic relationship. The event featured notable remarks by H.E Jose Maria Ridao, Ambassador of Spain, a keynote address by Ms. Inmaculada Riera, CEO of Spain Chamber of Commerce, and a special address by CII on 16th January’ 2024.
    • Meeting:  ISCC meeting with Mr. Christophe Kiener, the EU Chief Negotiator for the EU-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The President of ISCC to take on the role of presenting and moderating the session on 18 January’ 2024.
    • Meeting:   ISCC Members were invited to a lunch discussion with H.E. Hervé Delphin, the newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union to India, organized by the Federation of the European Business in India (FEBI). The session, held at Taj Vivanta in Hyderabad on January 19, 2024, focused on EU-India trade, investment relations, and the business environment. Ambassador Delphin welcomed insights from European companies to better understand the opportunities and challenges faced by EU companies in India.
    • Webinar: ISCC organized a collaborative webinar titled “Top IP Tips when doing Business in South-East Asia, India & Hong Kong.” This joint effort involved partnerships with the International IP SME HELPDESK, European Commission, Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, Spain-Asian Business Association, Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Malaysian Spanish Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Indo-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Spanish Chambers of Commerce in Singapore, and the Spanish-Thai Chamber of Commerce.
